I set up an HSA when I decided to get Lasik, then I waited for a couple of months. When I finally got the procedure done I used my HSA savings as a down-payment on financing.

I shopped around for a while before getting Lasik. It is a pain to visit all of their offices, but I was able to do preliminary phone interviews for a couple of sand diego doctors.
